NEW DELHI -- India has decided to hike customs duty on around 29 goods imported from the United States, including Bengal gram, lentils, artemia (shrimp) etc., in retaliation to U.S.' recent decision to hike duty on steel and aluminium products which had tariff implication to the extent of 241 million U.S. dollars on India, said a notification issued by the country's finance ministry Wednesday.

The move assumes significance in the wake of similar steps being announced by China and the European Union. (India-U.S.-Tariff)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan on Thursday officially confirmed that a U.S. drone has killed the Pakistani Taliban leader Mullah Fazlullah in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province.

Afghan officials earlier said Fazlullah, the chief of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed on June 13 when a U.S. spy aircraft fired missiles on his vehicle.

BANGKOK -- Some 40 pipe bombs, believed to have been prepared for insurgent attacks, were seized in a southern border province of Thailand on Thursday, a police source said.

The pipe bombs and timer circuits, mostly designed to operate at a five-minute interval, were seized from a pickup truck by police on a road in Tak Bai district of Narathiwat province, about 1,150 km south of Bangkok, according to the source attached to the National Police headquarters. JAKARTA -- Indonesia's North Sumatra provincial police have detained the captain of an allegedly overloaded boat for questioning, after the vessel capsized leaving at least four people dead and over 192 others missing, national police spokesman said here Thursday.
