Cambodian, Chinese students jointly perform to mark 60th anniversary of ties

PHNOM PENH, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian and Chinese students jointly performed a variety of traditional dances, music, songs and martial arts here Friday night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the China-Cambodia diplomatic relations.

Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona said the joint performance would further enhance cultural ties and people-to-people relations between the two countries.

"Under the Belt and Road Initiative, the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China have been further deepened in an all-round way, including in culture," she said.

Ma Jianfei, deputy chief executive of the Beijing-based Confucius Institute Headquarters, said the joint performance was an important event for Cambodian and Chinese artists to exchange experience and to make friends, and for the audience to better understand the cultures of the two countries.

Held at the iconic Chaktomuk Theater in Phnom Penh, the one-and-a-half hour event attracted an audience of more than 500 people, and each of the performances drew hearty rounds of applause from the spectators.
