BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe started an official visit to China from Friday to Monday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
Born in 1970 in the northern city of Rouen, Philippe graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the National School of Administration.
Earlier, he served as public affairs director at Areva, a French nuclear and renewable energy company, as deputy mayor and mayor of the city of Le Havre, and a member of the National Assembly.
Philippe was appointed prime minister by President Emmanuel Macron in May 2017.
