TIRANA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The airport to be built in the southern Albanian city of Vlora will have the lowest tariffs in the region, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday.
Rama made this statement at the launch of new projects for Vlora region. The construction of Vlora airport will be kicked off in months.
"We are about to conclude the negotiations on Vlora airport, which will have the lowest tariffs in the region," underlined Rama.
Moreover, Rama emphasized that Vlora airport will be international and will compete directly with Tirana International Airport.
The new airport will offer more affordable prices for passengers, added Rama.
According to the Albanian prime minister, each day around 1600 passengers heading to the Greek capital Athens will have the chance to use Vlora airport. It will also handle import and export freight.
According to Rama, the construction of Vlora airport will directly create at least 27,000 jobs and transform the area into a hub of economic and trade development and many light industries.
