MAPUTO, June 25 (Xinhua) -- President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi in his speech during the central ceremony of the 43rd anniversary of national independence on Monday in Maputo condemned the series of brutal attacks by a group of unknown men in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.

The head of the southeast African state has made the comments about the situation in its gas-rich province since the attacks first occurred in October last year.

Nyusi said that nothing justifies the heinous acts against people's lives and public order.

"We strongly condemn these acts and will not rest until their perpetrators are neutralized and held accountable for their crimes," said the president.

Nyusi urged those armed men to immediately cease the attacks and submit their concerns to the appropriate entities, adding that the government has been permanently looking for strategic solutions.

"Whatever their claims are, whether they are legitimate or not, the claims should be presented to the appropriate places and through dialogue, which is the best way to achieve the desired objectives," said Nyusi.

The president expressed his solidarity with the affected communities and called for the collaboration of all those involved for the detention of those insurgents.
