KABUL, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi announced his resignation on Tuesday.
"Due to personal reasons I am stepping down," Hakimi said in a meeting with the staff of his ministry broadcast live by local television channel Tolo News TV.
Served as the minister for over the past three and half years, Hakimi called upon the staff and employees of the Ministry for Finance to cooperate with anyone picked up by the president to replace him.
However, the Presidential Palace has yet to make comment on his resignation.
