Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning on Iran oil ban call from U.S.

TOKYO, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as calls by the United States for its allies to ban oil imports from Iran hurt the market mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 90.64 points, or 0.41 percent, from Tuesday to 22,251.36.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 5.35 points, or 0.31 percent, to 1,725.72.

Rubber product, marine transportation and land transportation-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
