LOS ANGELES, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for attacking with a knife at an apartment complex for refugee families, which left nine injured including six children, the Boise Police Department (BPD) announced Sunday.

According to the press release of the BPD, the incident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday night and the suspect, Timmy Kinner, was taken into custody about 20 minutes later. Police officers located nine victims inside and outside of the apartment, four of whom received life-threatening injuries.

Kinner has been booked into the Ada County Jail last night on nine counts of Aggravated Battery and six counts of Injury to Child, but his exact motives and reasons for attacking specific individuals is still under investigation.

The police said Kinner, a resident of Los Angels, is not a refugee, and preliminary evidence shows he was a temporary resident at the apartment complex until he was asked to leave on Friday.

"As you can imagine the witnesses in the apartment complex along with the rest of our community are reeling from this attack. This incident is not a representation of our community but a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time," said Boise Police Chief William Bones in the press release.

Boise is the capital city of Idaho state, located 840 kilometers south of Seattle.
