Vietnam Airlines cancels some int'l flights due to typhoon

HANOI, July 3 (Xinhua) -- National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has canceled four flights from Vietnam to South Korea, and two flights to Japan on Tuesday to avoid typhoon Prapiroon which is raging in the Korean Peninsula.

The affected flights were scheduled to depart from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to the South Korean city of Busan, and from Hanoi to the Japanese city of Fukuoka.

Vietnam Airlines announced it will launch make-up flights on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Vietnam's aviation industry served 24.6 million passengers in the first half of this year, up 15.2 percent on-year, and transported 176,400 tons of cargoes, up 14.8 percent, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
