6 Indian nationals killed in road accident in eastern Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Six Indian nationals were killed in a road accident in Nepal's eastern Sunsari District on Tuesday, a senior police official said.

The accident happened when a jeep with an Indian number plate slipped off the highway and plunged deep into the swollen Koshi River amid heavy rainfall, according to authorities.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajan Adhikari, told Xinhua that six out of 10 passengers were killed on the spot.

Indian nationals including a driver injured in the incident have been receiving treatment in local hospital, the police official said.

The Indian nationals were returning to their home after visiting Bhedetar area in Dhankuta, a tourist destination in eastern part of Nepal.
