CHICAGO, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Three singers have competed through the Chinese songs selection contest in U.S. Midwest and will proceed to the 2018 "Cultures of China, Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Contest for Overseas Chinese Final to be held in Beijing in late July.
More than 40 singers from U.S. Midwest competed at the two-day selection contest in three different groups of adult, youth and children at the weekend.
Competition in adult group is particularly fierce, as all 10 competitors are renowned singers in Chicago and nearby communities.
The contest has attracted many native Americans of Chinese origin. Their love for Chinese songs and passion for Chinese culture have been the highlights of the competition this year.
This is the second time that the "Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Contest for Overseas Chinese was held in Chicago.
The 2018 "Cultures of China, Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Contest for Overseas Chinese has opened 40 divisions in 26 countries, aiming at strengthening the link between China and the world through the Chinese culture.
