NEW DELHI, July 5 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake early Thursday hit India's Andaman Islands, officials said.
According to Indian Meteorological Department, the 5.2-magnitude earthquake occurred at 2:04 a.m. local time.
"The epicenter of earthquake was located at 14.7 degrees north latitude and 96.4 degrees east longitude," the Meteorological Department said. "The depth of the earthquake was 10 km."
Andaman Islands are located at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
So far there were no reports of any damage or loss of lives in the earthquake.
In 2015 a powerful earthquake struck India's neighboring country of Nepal, causing large scale destruction, killing over 5,000 people and injuring another 8,000.
