Myanmar president plants tree in environment greenery movement

YANGON, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Win Myint has planted a Myanmar Padauk tree in Nay Pyi Taw as part of the 2018 environment greenery movement, Myanmar News Agency reported Friday.

The monsoon tree planting event was held at Pho Zaung Taung reserve in Pobbathiri township in the capital on Thursday.

Along with the president, Vice President U Myint Swe and both speakers of the two Houses also planted Mahogany and Tamalan saplings.

At the event, 333 saplings, including Teak and Pyinkado hardwood, were also grown.

Pho Zaung Taung reserve has 51 blocks covering 3,449 hectares containing various plant species in it.

Padauk tree is a tropical tree and its leaves are green and compound, while its flowers are golden yellow and fragrant and bloom at the top of the branches.

The Padauk symbolizes love in Myanmar.
