SYDNEY, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A chocolate-loving possum in Australia was released back into the wild on Thursday, after it became stuck in a jar of Nutella.
"It managed to get his head in the jar, but obviously couldn't get it out," Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Queensland State spokesman Michael Beatty explained on Friday.
Suspicion was aroused after a man noticed his dog showing an unusual interest in the outside garbage bins.
"The man looked around the back of the shed near the garbage bin and there was the possum with his head caught," Beatty said.
A volunteer from the RSPCA was able to free the possum from the plastic container with lubricant before taking it to a nearby wildlife hospital for observation.
Beatty said that it is not the first time he has encountered a possum which had gotten caught in a peculiar situation.
"I've seen some stuck under stairs, and occasionally they might be trapped in a drain or something like that," Beatty said.
