TORONTO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Canadian main stock market rose Friday due to increasing shares of the energy and telecoms sectors.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index rose 105.17 points, or 0.65 percent, to close the day at 16,371.78 points.
The Canadian dollar went up to 0.7631 U.S. dollar.
The energy group rose 2.88 points, or 1.41 percent while the financial sector climbed 1.25 points, or 0.42 percent.
Transcontinental Inc. rose 5.5 percent and Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Corp. climbed 4.2 percent while Cenovus Energy Inc. gained 4.1 percent.
Centerra Gold Inc. dropped six percent and New Gold Inc fell 3.5 percent while Intertape Polymer Group Inc rallied 2.3 percent.
