SYDNEY, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Australia's Victoria state on Thursday launched a major innovation hub where it is set to host the country's top startups ranging from financial technology to cybersecurity, according to authorities.

The hub is located in a 111-year-old building in the center of state capital Melbourne's Docklands waterfront area. At least 360 leading startups, accelerators and incubators will operate in the hub, the state said in a statement on Thursday.

"This hub is the next step towards giving Victorian startups and entrepreneurs the help they need to expand, network and be in a supportive environment that will help them turn their dreams into reality," the state's Minister for Trade and Investment Philip Dalidakis said.

Groups that have set up at the hub include national medical technology accelerator The Actuator and data analytics specialists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization federal agency.

The new facility is in line with the state's latest push to invest in the sectors, skills and training that will help drive its economy.
