JAKARTA, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo praised Muhammad Zohri for his victory in the 100m event at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships.
Zohri, 18, timed in 10.18 seconds to win the men's 100m on Wednesday in Tampere, Finland, ahead of two Americans Anthony Schwart and Eric Hamson, both finished with a time of 10.22.
"I think it is not only me, but all of the Indonesian people are proud of him," President Widodo said on Thursday.
Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi praised the achievement and promised to provide a bonus for the sprinter.
"We will prepare a warm welcome and a bonus for him," Nahrawi said.
Zohri set a new personal best time, breaking his old record of 10.25 seconds.
