LIMA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra said Friday that the magnitude of the crisis facing the country's judicial system requires "urgent actions."

"We have to act with a sense of urgency. We could say that the initial deadline is three months, which I think is plenty of time," said the president at a graduation ceremony held at a military college in the Peruvian capital.

Vizcarra referred to the scandal currently engulfing the country in which high-level judicial authorities were recorded illicitly wielding their influence.

Vizcarra called for the reform of the National Council of the Magistrature (CNM), the body charged with appointing judges and district attorneys, and whose members were implicated in the recordings.

Vizcarra also assured the country that his government is working on a plan of action to be inserted into a judicial reform project, which will be presented to Congress on July 28.

He stated his "firm and categorical" commitment to combat all acts of corruption that the country faces and resolve the problems in the judicial system.
