SYDNEY, July 16 (Xinhua) -- A 19-year-old man has been charged with murdering a boy, a girl and their 48-year-old mother, following the discovery of the victims at their suburban home in Western Australia's state capital Perth on Sunday in a case that has shocked the community, police said on Monday.

The slain 8-year-old boy and his mother were found dead at the home in the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook and the 15-year-old girl was found in the rear yard with critical injuries and taken to hospital but later died, according to a police statement.

A homicide detective on site said it was potentially the most horrific crime scene he has ever been called to, local media reported. Police were reportedly seen taking away a pair of large scissors from the scene.

The state police's Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel told reporters the incident will shock residents throughout the community.

The suspect, who is also from the neighborhood, is due to appear in court on Monday, police said.
