SINGAPORE, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.21 percent or 6.85 points to close at 3,239.64.
A total of 1.56 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.08 billion Singapore dollars (about 793.31 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 197 to 188.
The STI index closed down 0.85 percent or 27.56 points to close at 3,232.79 on Monday.
