BRUSSELS, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) on Tuesday said it will continue to call on Russia to "accept its responsibility" on the fourth anniversary of the downing of flight MH17.
Commemorating the anniversary of the disaster, Federica Mogherini, the bloc's foreign policy chief, said in a statement, "The EU fully supports United Nations Security Council Resolution 2166, which demands that those responsible for the downing of flight MH17 on July 17, 2014 be held to account and that all states cooperate fully with efforts to establish accountability."
The investigation presented on May 24 has concluded that the installation of the Buk missile that shot down the flight MH17 in 2014 came from the Russian forces, according to the statement.
Mogherini said, "we will continue to call on the Russian Federation to accept its responsibility and to fully cooperate with all efforts to establish accountability."
However, the conclusions of the Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team have been refused by Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry has refuted the accusation, saying that no new anti-aircraft missiles crossed the border to Ukraine since 1991.
Flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, en route from the Dutch capital of Amsterdam to Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur. All 298 people aboard were killed, including 196 citizens of the Netherlands.
