PHNOM PENH, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Wednesday called on sea travelers and fishermen to be extra-vigilant as the country will be suffering from the impact of Tropical Storm Son-tinh from July 19 to 21.
According to the weather forecast, the storm was brewing on Wednesday and expected to hit Vietnam's northern coast Thursday night, said a Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology statement.
With the impact of this storm, there will be heavy rainfall at coasts, plateaus, and mountainous areas as well as provinces along the Cambodia-Vietnam border, the statement said, adding that at sea, there will be heavy rainfall with strong wind and high waves.
"The ministry would like to urge the fishermen, travelers by sea, and residents living in plain areas along waterways to be extra-vigilant during the period to avoid any possible dangers," it said.
Cambodian sea stretches over four provinces - Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep and Koh Kong - in the country's southwestern part.
