Bangladesh launches nationwide tree planting campaign

DHAKA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh has launched a nationwide mega tree planting campaign aimed at addressing climate change.

This year, the Bangladeshi government has announced to plant 3 million trees across the country on the occasion of National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair-2018.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday inaugurated the campaign and a month-long tree fair in the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), also known as Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center in capital Dhaka.

Bangladeshi Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud had earlier said school students would be engaged to achieve the mega tree planting campaign.
