WASHINGTON, July 19 (Xinhua) -- An explosion at the U.S. Letterkenny Army Depot in the state of Pennsylvania injured four Thursday Morning, the army depot said.
"There has been an explosion in the industrial area at Bldg 350, Letterkenny Army Depot," the depot said on its social media page. Depot commander Col. Stephen Ledbetter later confirmed that four people were injured in the incident, among whom three were seriously wounded and were airlifted to Baltimore for treatment, the fourth was treated at a local hospital.
The facility's social media page initially categorized the explosion as an "incident." It has also told employees not to share information regarding the incident with the media. It has since deleted all posts regarding the explosion.
The Letterkenny Army Depot is located in Chambersburg, a town in south central part of the state. The 18,000-acre depot has more than 3,600 employees who help provide "responsive and sustainable readiness for the US and Allied Air and Missile Defense forces," according to its website.
