All passengers, crew rescued in boat capsizing in Philippines

MANILA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- A Philippine inter-island ferry sank on Friday after being battered by fierce wind and big waves off Occidental Mindoro province.

Authorities said all the 57 passengers and 10 crew were rescued alive from the rough sea.

A provincial disaster agency said the boat MV Lucky Benjamin was sailing towards Looc, Occidental Mindoro from Calatagan Port in Batangas province when the sea mishap happened around 2:00 p.m. local time.

"All the 57 passengers and 10 crew are all accounted for," the agency said in a post on its Facebook account.

A severe tropical storm continues to lash the Philippines, causing flooding in the Philippine capital and in many parts of the country.
