JAKARTA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Competitive video gaming, known as eSports, will become a non-medal event at the 18th Asian Games scheduled to be held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Indonesia.

Head of Indonesia eSports Association (IeSPA) Eddy Lim said here Tuesday that the competition would be held in Britama Arena Stadium in Jakarta from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1.

He said that six electronic games to be contended in the eSports exhibition are 2018 Pro Evolution Soccer, Starecraft II, Hearthstone, League of Legend, Arena of Valor (AoV) and Clash Royale.

According to Eddy, 18 countries and regions will take part in the eSports competition. They are Indonesia, Laos, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, China, China's Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Pakistan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Thailand, India, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka and Iran.

Indonesia has 17 qualified gamers to compete.

"I heard an information that the eSports would be officially contended in 2022 with medals for the winners," Eddy said.
