Thailand provides 147,000 USD in grant aid for flood victims in southern Laos

BANGKOK, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand delivered 5 million baht (about 147,000 U.S. dollars) grant aid to Laos on Wednesday in the face of a severe flooding due to a damaged dam in southern Laos.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha provided the 147,000-U.S. dollar aid in cash via Lao Ambassador to Thailand Seng Soukhathivong at the Government House.

In addition to the money, the Thai government is also providing drinking water, food, medicine and plastic tents for the flood victims in Attapeu province in southern Laos.

Hundreds of Lao villagers were reportedly missing and thousands of others were considerably affected by the severe flooding after Xepian-Xe Nam Noy dam was broken by heavy rains.
