NEW DELHI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- India's Sensex crossed an all-time high of 37,496.80 points Monday, officials said.
"Today the stock markets hit fresh lifetime highs as both the key equity benchmarks hit new record highs in early trade. The BSE Sensex opened at 37,491.39 while the broader Nifty50 at 11,296.65," a market analyst said. "The Sensex traded high registering 37,496.80 while the Nifty recorded 11,309.35."
Reports said the top gainers in the 30-share Sensex pack were State Bank of India (up 3.38 percent), ONGC (up 2.88 percent), ICICI Bank (up 2.68 percent), Vedanta (up 2.37 percent), and Reliance Industries (up 1.16 percent).
The five major gainers in the 50-share Nifty pack were Hindustan Petroleum (up 3.28 percent), State Bank of India (up 3.26 percent), ONGC (up 2.79 percent), ICICI Bank (up 2.49 percent) and Vedanta (up 2.43 percent).
