BERLIN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Belgium ran to the gold medal in the men's 4x400m relay with 2 minutes 59.47 seconds at the first edition of the multi-sport European Championships in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Saturday.
Spain led the race until the finishing straight before Belgium and Great Britain took over to leave the Spain on the third place.
Great Britain took the silver medal with 3 minutes 00.36 seconds whereas Spain secured the bronze medal with 3 minutes 00.78 seconds.
The European Championships is the first edition of a new multi-sport event, which is jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin. More than 4,500 athletes are competing for 187 gold medals until August 12.
