KIEV, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's infrastructure ministry has prepared a draft decision on imposing new restrictions on transport connection with Russia, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said here on Friday.

The document will be submitted to the government and the National Security and Defense Council for consideration, Omelyan said at a press briefing, without giving details.

Earlier this week, Omelyan told local media that he will propose the cabinet to limit direct rail connection with Russia due to the tensions between the two countries.

His words triggered concerns among some local experts, who pointed out that the possible move may affect Ukrainians who work in Russia or have relatives there.

Relations between Kiev and Moscow have been deteriorating since early 2014 over their different stances on the developments in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.

Since October 2015, direct air services between Ukraine and Russia have been suspended.
