KIEV, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Ukrainian-made cruise missile was successfully test-fired from a testing range in Ukraine's southern Odessa region, the country's state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom said on Friday.
The missile, which was developed by the state-run Kiev design bureau "Luch", hit a maritime target at a distance of 100 kilometers, Ukroboronprom said in a statement.
The flight characteristics and all systems of the missile, including a high-precision guidance system, were also checked during the test, the statement said.
According to Ukroboronprom, the creation of a new cruise missile, which is capable of hitting targets at great distances, would help Ukraine to boost its protection against maritime threats.
