BERLIN, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Bundesliga side RB Leipzig came from behind to beat fourth division side Viktoria Cologne 3-1 on the road at the first round of the German Cup on Sunday.

Second half goals from Yussuf Poulsen, Emil Forsberg and Jean-Kevin Augustin turned the tides to avoid an embarrassing exit against lower league side Viktoria Cologne.

Leipzig dictated the proceedings on the pitch but lacked in penetration to open the scoring against resilient hosts.

Viktoria Cologne flabbergasted the visitors in the 39th minute through Timm Golley, who broke the deadlock after slotting home a cross from Patrick Koronkiewicz following a fast break.

After an uninspiring first half performance, Leipzig's head coach Ralf Rangnick made some amendments and fielded Marcelo Saracchi and Kevin Kampl after the interval.

The "Bulls" piled on the pressure and pressed the hosts into the defence to level the scoring with 61 minutes played as Yussuf Poulsen tapped home from very close range following a rebound.

Ralf Rangnick's men gained momentum and grabbed the 2-1 lead eight minutes later after Emil Forsberg completed a counter attack with a well-placed shot into the roof of the net.

The hosts dominated and made the game safe in the dying minutes of the game when Jean-Kevin Augustin shrugged off two defenders to beat goalkeeper Sebastian Patzler into the far post corner.

Elsewhere, Augsburg craved out a narrow 2-1 lead over lower league side Steinbach to book their berth for the next round, Dusseldorf crushed fifth division Koblenz 5-0 and Hannover celebrated a goal festival and moved 6-0 past Karlsruhe.
