RABAT, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan government approved on Monday a draft law to restore compulsory military service for young people.

According to the draft law, young people aged between 19 and 25 years old will be obliged to serve in the military for 12 months.

It covers for the first time both men and women.

The compulsory military service for young Moroccans was lifted in 2006.
