MADRID, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona continued their 100 percent start to the season with a narrow 1-0 win away to newly promoted Valladolid on Saturday night thanks to a second half goal from Ousmane Dembele and a late decision by the Video Assistant Referee which ruled out what would have been and equalizing goal for Valladolid in the last minute of injury time.

The league champions controlled the game in the first half despite a poor playing surface in Valladolid's stadium where the pitch had only been laid four days ago but failed to turn their control into clear chances.

It wasn't until the 57th minute that the Frenchman opened the scoring after full back Sergi Roberto set him up with a header into the area.

Valladolid pressured for an equalizing goal in the closing minutes and thought they had equalized when Keko beat Ter Stegen with a near post header, only for the VAR to rule the goal out for offside.

Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the game with a 63rd minute solo effort to give Atletico Madrid all three points in their derby at home to Rayo Vallecano, but Atletico had goalkeeper, Jan Oblak to thank for a series of saves to keep the newly promoted side at bay in a disappointing performance from Diego Simeone's side.

Alaves and Betis got the ball rolling on Saturday with a 0-0 draw, thanks mainly to the performances of goalkeepers Fernando Pacheco and Pau Lopez. The draw at least gives both teams their first point of the season after suffering defeats in their opening matches last weekend.

Friday saw Getafe defeat Eibar 2-0 in the first game of matchday 2, with goals from strike partnership Angel Rodriguez and Jorge Molina giving the Madrid based outfit their first points of the campaign.

Meanwhile Nabil El Zhar scored two second half goals to spoil Asier Garitano's return to Leganes' Butarque Stadium as the coach of Real Sociedad.

Real Sociedad had gone 2-0 up after just 17 minutes through David Zurutuza and Asier Illaramendi, but El Zhar pulled a goal back early in the second half and saved a point for his side with just three minutes remaining.
