BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Tuesday chaired a symposium in Beijing, consulting with leading members of non-Communist parties and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce on advancing coordinated regional development.

While speaking highly of the achievements through research conducted by the non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said democratic consultation is a unique part of China's socialist democratic politics and has showcased its advantages.

Research and consultation play an important role in strengthening and improving political party consultation, Wang said, calling for efforts to innovate and improve the research and consultation mechanism in order to provide advice for the CPC Central Committee's decision-making process.

At the symposium, the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang proposed that faster progress should be made in developing the Southern Transport Corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to boost the development of China's western regions.

The China Democratic League said strategic planning, transportation, information networks, factor market, business environment, scientific innovation, environmental protection and public services should be priorities in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

The China National Democratic Construction Association gave a number of pieces of advice on the development of Hainan free trade zone, including strengthening ports and aviation infrastructure, enhancing port management and improving tourism regulation and services.

The China Zhi Gong Party suggested stronger efforts in ecological security research, comprehensive observation and disaster risk assessment for the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, and that more support should be given to planting trees and grasslands, as well as protection and restoration of the ecological system on the plateau.

The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce said high attention should be paid to the problems faced by private enterprises in the pursuit of high-quality development, and policies that support private enterprises should be well-implemented.
