KIEV, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Within hours of going into effect on Wednesday, the new ceasefire in eastern Ukraine has been violated dozens of times, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said.

The OSCE's special monitoring mission in Ukraine said on its Twitter account that it has registered more than 70 ceasefire violations in the first hours of the truce despite the declared commitment of the conflicting sides to stop hostilities.

However, the mission did not specify who had committed the violations.

Last week, the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine reached an agreement on a fresh round of ceasefire in Ukraine's conflict-hit Donbas region from Aug. 29.

The group consists of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE. It was formed to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the conflict that has been underway in eastern Ukraine since April 2014.
