Canadian stock market extends losses

TORONTO, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Canadian main stock market continued down on Friday due to weakness in telecoms and financials groups.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged down 10.67 points, or 0.07 percent, to 16,090.27 points.

The Canadian dollar fell 15 cents to 0.7589 U.S. dollar.

The energy group rose 0.38 points, or 0.20 percent, while the financials sector lost 0.80 points, or 0.26 percent.

The largest percentage gainer on the market was Enghouse Systems jumping 5.3 percent to 85.15 Canadian dollars, while Sierra Wireless up 5.1 percent to 25.93 Canadian dollars.

Barrick Gold gained 1.6 percent to 13.24 Canadian dollars, while Kinross Gold added 1.8 percent to 3.73 Canadian dollars

Agnico Eagle Mines rallied 1.8 percent to 43.71 Canadian dollars.

Transcontinental Inc. tumbled 9.5 percent to 26.88 Canadian dollars.
