RABAT, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan Royal Navy rescued 19 Moroccans suspected of illegal immigration off the Atlantic city of Casablanca, including a woman and a child, the Moroccan army announced in a statement on Sunday.
The 19 people set sail in a wooden boat without any means of propulsion or awareness of the danger, and were later abandoned by their smuggler in the middle of the ocean, the statement said.
Alerted by their families, they were located 32 km off Casablanca after hours of searching, the statement added.
The rescued had been brought back safe to the Casablanca port, it noted.
