Small businesses' demand for loans increases in Q3: central bank

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's small and micro-sized businesses reported stronger demand for loans in the third quarter of this year, a central bank survey showed Friday.

The borrowing demand index for these businesses stood at 67.1 in Q3, up from 64.5 in Q2, according to a People's Bank of China (PBOC) survey of bankers.

Overall loan demand index for all types of businesses fell to 65.2 in Q3 from 66.7 in Q2.

Another PBOC survey showed the entrepreneur confidence index in Q3 was 71.1, down from 75.8 in Q2 but still higher than 68.7 a year earlier.

In a separate survey, the PBOC found 26 percent of urban residents were inclined to consume more in Q3, up from 24.7 percent in Q2, while 29.7 percent were inclined to make more financial investments, down from 31.7 percent in the previous quarter.
