RAMALLAH, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- A senior Palestinian official stated Friday that the current policy of the U.S. administration will create a destructive vacuum and put the system of the international law into risk.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said in an official press statement that the Palestinian people "won't surrender to the U.S. pressure or sanctions and the blackmail policy."

He made the statement in response to earlier remarks of Jared Kushner, a senior aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, published in the New York Times on Thursday.

Kushner, also Trump's sun-in-law, said to the U.S. daily in an interview that "a series of recent punitive measures against the Palestinians will help, not harm, the chances for a peace deal."

Rudeineh said the U.S. statements "reflect ignorance of the reality of the conflict, and it is an attempt to mislead and falsify the history of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctity."

On Monday, Washington ordered the closure of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) mission in the U.S. capital.

Rudeineh said "these attitudes are evidence of a blind bias to false concepts, a complete failure of American efforts that are not based on facts that can lead to real and lasting peace."

"Peace will only pass through the two-state solution and regarding East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and resolutions of the Arab summits," said Rudeineh.

Meanwhile, PLO Secretary-General Saeb Erekat slammed Kushner's remarks in an emailed press statement.

"The policies of Trump's administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu can never stop the historic inevitability of the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital," said Erekat.
