BUCHAREST, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Romania will host the third Summit of the Three Seas Initiative on Monday and Tuesday, to validate the strategic guidelines that underlie the future development of the flexible policy platform, the Presidential Administration of Romania announced Friday.

The summit bringing together member states located between the Baltic Sea, the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea in Bucharest aims to show political support to the initiative on regional priority interconnection projects in energy, transport and digital fields; the creation of a network of chambers of commerce in the participating states; taking steps to set up an investment initiative for the platform and launching its official website.

The first edition of the Business Forum of the Three Seas Initiative will be held on the sidelines, with the participation of companies and government officials from the member countries of the initiative, other European Union (EU) member states, the United States, the Western Balkans, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, representatives of the European Commission and European and international financial institutions, as well as representatives of think-tanks and academia, according to a press statement of the Presidential Administration.

The Three Seas Initiative, launched in 2015, includes 12 EU member states located between the Adriatic Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. The first two summits of the initiative took place in Dubrovnik in 2016 and in Warsaw in 2017 respectively.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will attend for the first time the two-day summit, along with the heads of state, government or parliament of the platform's member states.
