Head-on car collision in southern Morocco kills 4

RABAT, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- A speedy car on Sunday collided with two others running from the opposite direction on a road near the southern Moroccan city of Inezgane, killing four people, Hespress.com news site reported.

The head-on collision also injured four others, two of them in serious condition, the news site said.

The injured were rushed to hospital for necessary health care, it added.

An investigation is underway to shed light on the cause of the road accident.

A total of 3,499 people were killed in road accidents in Morocco in 2017, down 2.62 percent from a year earlier, according to the Moroccan Transport Ministry.

In 2016, the Moroccan government adopted a new national road safety strategy aiming at reducing the fatalities in road accidents by 25 percent in 2021 and 50 percent by 2026.
