BEIRUT, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- French Ambassador to Lebanon Bruno Foucher said Monday that France is following up on the government formation in Lebanon, Lebanon's presidency website reported.

"France is keen to follow up on cabinet formation in Lebanon especially when it comes to the reforms that must be implemented by the new government in a bid to have access to the funds pledged for the country at CEDRE conference," Foucher said during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

Foucher's visit to Aoun aimed at discussing bilateral ties and ways of developing the French-Lebanese relations on all levels.

Foucher said that French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Lebanon from Feb. 11 to 14, 2019.

Economists have emphasized that authorities must speed up the formation of the new government to start necessary reforms to obtain the help pledged at CEDRE, an international conference in support of Lebanon development and reforms.

Lebanon secured over 11 billion U.S. dollars in soft loans and grants from international donors at CEDRE to revamp its ailing infrastructure and bolster its economy.
