TEHRAN, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Europeans have offered new trade proposals to Iran which might secure Iran's interests within the framework of the 2015 international nuclear deal, known as JCPOA, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said here on Monday.

Previous proposals by Europe could not provide enough guarantees for the sale of Iran's oil to Europe or to help Iran access to the international financial market, said Qasemi.

However, recent proposals by the Europeans seem practical, he said, adding that "we're looking for mechanisms to continue economic cooperation with them."

Qasemi did not elaborate on Europe's new proposals, but expressed hope that they would be instrumental to Iran's interests.

He said that a ministerial meeting of JCPOA signatories, excluding the United States, on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meeting could take "us to newer stages."

Iran has urged Europe to accept the cost of standing up to U.S. sanction pressures against the Islamic republic.

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to sign an executive order on Nov. 4 to snap back U.S. sanctions on Iran's energy exports and international financial transactions.

Trump has also warned the Iranian international energy and financial partners of the punitive measures if they do not cease deals with Iran.

Iran and six world powers, namely China, Russia, Britain, France, the United States and Germany, struck a deal over Iran's nuclear program in 2015.

However, Trump decided to withdraw Washington from the deal earlier this year and re-impose sanctions on Iran.
