PARIS, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A teenager was killed during a shooting related to drug trafficking on Monday night in a northeast Paris suburb, local media reported on Tuesday.
At about 9:00 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) on Monday a brawl erupted between two factions of young men mostly armed with iron bars and baseball bats, BFMTV news channel reported.
The news channel said the fight is likely related to drug trafficking and the incident happened in the sensitive city of Saint-Denis.
Local reports said the victim was a 16-year-old teenager who was shot in his throat and died on site. Two other people, including a 17-year-old, also suffered injuries.
With reports of deadly crimes in recent years, the Saint-Denis region, located about 9 km from the center of Paris, is known for a multi-ethnic population and comparatively high crime rates of robbery, drugs offenses and murder.
