BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang has stressed strengthening the study of theories within the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, made the remarks at a recent symposium held in Beijing.

The right political direction should be upheld within the CPPCC, so as to ensure its theoretical study and research is on the right track, said Wang at the meeting during which he listened to suggestions on the CPPCC National Committee's major research subjects.

The study should focus on how to fulfill the CPPCC's new mission in the new era, and the research should be concentrated on improving weak areas and inadequacies in its work as well as other issues, Wang said.

Approved by the CPC Central Committee, a seminar on Xi Jinping's thoughts on strengthening and improving the CPPCC work will be held in late September.
