U.S. remains biggest financial contributor to Ukraine: report

KIEV, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The United States remained the biggest financial contributor to the Ukrainian economy in the first half of 2018, Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry said on Tuesday in a report.

According to the document, 102 U.S.-funded projects totally worth 1.7 billion U.S. dollars were implemented in Ukraine in January-June this year.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was the second-largest contributor to Ukraine in the first half of 2018, followed by the European Union.

The overall value of 477 internationally-financed projects that were implemented in Ukraine in the first six months of the current year stood at 3.5 billion dollars.

Most of the projects were related to such spheres as security and defense, nuclear safety, civil society and regional development.

The United States was the biggest financial contributor to Ukraine in the first half of 2017, channeling 1.5 billion dollars for 103 projects.
