NEW DELHI, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday reviewed progress of the multi-faceted bilateral strategic partnership between their countries.
"The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the increase in bilateral trade that has crossed the 1 billion U. S. dollars mark," said a statement issued by the Indian Prime Minister's office.
"The two leaders also appreciated the successful conclusion of the India-Afghanistan trade and investment show in Mumbai last week and expressed determination to strengthen connectivity, through Chabahar port and air-freight corridor."
According to officials, Modi reiterated India's support to the Afghan government's peace and reconciliation process.
Ghani on Wednesday arrived in New Delhi on a day-long visit to meet Modi.
"While expressing satisfaction at the coordination and consultation on activities at various international fora, the two sides agreed to strengthen this cooperation and also to work even more closely with their regional and international partners for prosperity, peace, stability and progress," a spokesman said.
