WARSAW, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Poland will increase subsidies for creating and developing child care institutions and creches network, Polish Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Elzbieta Rafalska, announced on Thursday.

The government's new program named "Toddler Plus", will increase subsidies up to 450 million Polish zloty (123 million U.S. dollars) in 2019. It will also bring more support for local government already running creches, in order to create more places in already existing institutions.

According to Rafalska, a subsidy for creating a single creche care place will increase from 20,000 Polish zloty (around 5,500 U.S. dollars) to 30,000 Polish zloty (8,188 U.S. dollars). A subsidy for already existing creche place will increase up to 22,000 Polish zloty (around 6,000 U.S. dollars).

Rafalska said that within the "Toddler Plus" program, around 24,000 child care places dedicated to children up to three years old will be created this year in the whole country.

"We want local governments to feel the support from the governmental program so that they can take up the challenges to improve this social service that allows parents, mostly mums, to reconcile their professional duties with care over a young child", she added.
