KAMPALA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Uganda stopped Zimbabwe 104-10 in their fourth game at the on-going 2018 World University Netball Championships on Thursday. The hosts have maintained a 100% unbeaten run as they go into the final game against defending champions South Africa on Friday.
Against Zimbabwe, Uganda led 50-2 at half time before increasing their lead to win 104-10 in a game played at the newly constructed Makerere University Indoor Arena.
On Wednesday, Uganda also humbled Sri Lanka 133-24 in the tournament that has attracted seven teams. "We are determined to win this trophy just like the senior team won the Africa Cup. We continue to remain focused and motivated to win all the games although we know facing South Africa will not be an easy task," Uganda's head coach Rashid Mubiru told Xinhua.
Uganda's team started with a 105-16 victory over USA on Monday, before they defeated Singapore 77-19 on Tuesday. In the other games played on Thursday, Sri Lanka lost two games.
They first fell 62-33 to Kenya and later lost 62-37 to Singapore. Later the United States picked up a 41-37 win over Singapore. Jamaica, Namibia, Botswana and Australia all pulled out of the championship.
In the previous championships England won the inaugural event held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2012, while South Africa became champions in 2016 when the event was held in Miami, the United States.
